Become a Willing Friend!

The St. Paul's Willing Friends Society is a fellowship of individuals who have chosen to include the St. Paul's Methodist Foundation or St. Paul's United Methodist Church in their estate plans. The current Willing Friends have expressed a desire to recognize St. Paul's through future gift commitments in a variety of forms.



Gifts of any amount are welcome. Anonymous gifts or commitments are accepted and are honored as such. Gifts of assets such as cash, securities, real estate, or partnership interests may be donated. Below is a list of some of the methods through which you may make this contribution and instructions as to how you should designate the Foundation or St. Paul's as a beneficiary:

Bequest in Your Will
Name St. Paul's Methodist Foundation of Houston OR St. Paul's United Methodist Church as a beneficiary of your estate. This designation may be for a specific percentage of your estate or a specific dollar amount.

Bequest in Your Living Trust, Irrevocable Trust, or Revocable Trust
Name St. Paul's Methodist Foundation of Houston OR St. Paul's United Methodist Church as a beneficiary of your trust. This designation may be for a specific percentage of your trust or a specific dollar amount.

Retirement Accounts, including IRA, Roth IRA, 401(K), 403(B), and other qualified and non-qualified benefit plans
On the designation of beneficiary form, name St. Paul's Methodist Foundation of Houston OR St. Paul's United Methodist Church as a beneficiary. This designation may be for a specific percentage of your estate or a specific dollar amount.  Spousal consent may be required. 

Charitable Gift Annuity
Establish a charitable gift annuity with St. Paul's Foundation of Houston OR St. Paul's United Methodist Church as beneficiary in exchange for a partial tax deduction and a lifetime stream of annual income. At your death, the Foundation or St. Paul's will receive the balance.

Charitable Remainder Trust
Name St. Paul's Methodist Foundation of Houston OR St. Paul's United Methodist Church as the remainder beneficiary of the trust.  As donor, you continue to use the property or receive income from it while living. After a specified period of time, the remainder is paid to the Foundation.

Life Insurance
Name St. Paul's Methodist Foundation of Houston OR St. Paul's United Methodist Church as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy.

Donor-Advised Fund or a Private Foundation
Name St. Paul's Methodist Foundation of Houston OR St. Paul's United Methodist Church as the designated recipient of the funds at your death or termination of the fund or trust.

Donors should always consult with their own tax attorney and tax accountant prior to making a commitment.

Gifts and records for the St. Paul's Foundation are maintained separately from those of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.  Gifts to the Foundation are deductible for federal income tax purposes and qualify as a reduction to a taxable entity.  St. Paul's Methodist Foundation of Houston is established as a 501(c)(3) and is classified by the Internal Revenue Service as a Type I Support Organization.

Contributions may be designated into any of the fund categories in our porfolio.  Please contact Rev. Shelli Williams if you wish to discuss the possibility of establishing a fund for a specific ministry purpose or in honor or memory of an individual or individuals.
