Welcome to St. Paul's United Methodist Church - Houston, Texas

Weekend of Radical Hospitality

The weekend of September 24-26 presents three unique opportunities to display radical hospitality. To be part of any of these events, please email Rev. Gail Williford or call her at 713-528-0527.

Swift Night Out
Near-endangered chimney swifts partake of St. Paul’s hospitality by nesting overnight in our chimney as they fly back to South America for the winter. They return the favor by spending their days eating flying insects.

The Audubon Society conducts chimney swift counts throughout North America during August and September. The count and celebration at St. Paul’s will be at dusk Friday, September 24, in the large parking lot. St. Paul's members can provide hospitality to human visitors and enjoy watching these unusual birds swoop into the chimney.

Museum District Day
Houston’s Museum District Day is a fabulous way to visit the participating museums in the Museum District — all for free — from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, September 25.

As a museum neighbor, St. Paul’s also will be open for the day. Plans are still being determined, but they definitely will include sanctuary tours. If interested in planning the day’s activities or conducting tours, please contact Rev. Williford.

Congregation-to-Congregation
For the Learning Opportunities of the Interfaith Ministries Congregation-to-Congregation (C2C) project, participants are visting houses of worship representating each of their faiths. St. Paul’s will represent the Protestants for the C2C Hub 2 at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 26.

Tentative plans include presentations from the five Protestant denominations in the hub, including their sanctuaries, their clerical robes, the furnishings and art, and how a normal Sunday morning service is conducted. Tours also will be provided. To help, please contact Rev. Williford.
