Upon seeing her name and birthplace – Hof, West Germany – one might assume that Dawn is German. But she was an “Air Force Brat,” traveling much when young, then spending her youth in San Angelo, Texas, graduating from high school there. After graduating with a Bachelor of Music Education from Angelo State University, she came to Houston where she earned her Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Houston.

Dawn “sang her way through” her undergraduate college years in a San Angelo church choir, and she performed in many operas throughout all her college years. She joined St. Paul’s Choir in 1991 as a staff singer when she came to study at UH. She also was a soloist for and administrative director of Houston Masterworks Chorus. Eventually she joined St. Paul’s staff full time, splitting between music and producing the church newspaper and worship bulletins.

Since the retirement of long-time music administrator Frances Anderson in May 2005, Dawn’s talents have been devoted full-time to the music department. She continues to be a soprano soloist and produce the worship bulletins while now administering an ever-growing music department with the addition of the Choral Scholars and blossoming children’s music program.

Since the installation of St. Paul’s change-ringing bells in November 2001, Dawn has been intrigued with them, and she now is in charge of the Bell Tower. She is always eager to talk with anyone about the bells and the art of change ringing.
