General Fund
Established: 1960
Description:
The use of the income from this endowed fund is unrestricted and is granted at the discretion of the Board of Directors of St. Paul’s Methodist Foundation. Currently, earnings from the General Fund are granted to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church to cover building maintenance and historical preservation of its structures.
Named Funds:
The named funds and estates that are currently part of the General Fund include:
• Ray Jarl Fund
In 1988, Mr. Raymond N. Jarl, a long-time member of St. Paul's,
made St. Paul's Methodist Foundation the sole beneficiary of
a charitable gift annuity. The Ray Jarl Fund was established in
1998 with the proceeds of that fund following Mr. Jarl's death.
• Helen & David W. Light, Jr. Fund
This fund was established with a gift of the Helen U. Light Family
Partners, L.P. in 2002, which was given in memory of Helen & David
W. Light, Jr.
• Marr-Carlisle Memorial Fund
In 1989, Richard C. (Dick) Marr established a charitable gift annuity
in memory of his wife of 50 years, Ilis Hobbs Marr, and his daughter,
Sandra Marr Carlisle. The annuity provided income to Dick and his
second wife, Eve, until their deaths. The remaining annuity was used
to establish this fund in 2007 following their deaths.
• Ann W. Young Estate Fund
Ann Young named the St. Paul's Foundation as the sole beneficiary
of her estate as an expression of thankfulness for a church community
that she dearly loved. The fund was established in 2007 following Miss
Young's death on September 18, 2004.
